44 2010 Yearbook Faculty of Engineering Scratch in Your Classroom - Ceibal Project The objective of this project is to develop digital educational content for users of the Ceibal Plan, aimed at first-year secondary school teachers for use in the classroom with XO laptops running Scratch. This content is intended to spark students’ interest in mathematics and foster the development of abstract thinking. Project Leader: Inés Friss de Kereki, Professor of Programming, Faculty of Engineering. Funding: Center for Technological and Social Inclusion (CITS) of the Ceibal Plan. Duration: six months. Clemente Estable V - Auctions and Pricing Games in Networks. The objective of this project is to study the allocation of telecommunications network resources, taking into account both technological and economic aspects. This research will be conducted jointly by Universidad ORT Uruguay the Faculty of Engineering at the University of the Republic. Principal Investigator: Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory and Researcher, Faculty of Engineering. Funding: Clemente Estable Fund (FCE) Duration: 12 months PROJECTS INITIATED IN 2010 Camino TIC The objective of this project is the reintegration of 100 young people into the formal technical and vocational education system, which in turn will enable their social and labor market inclusion in the information and communications technology sector. The participating institutions are: Universidad ORT Uruguay, Rotary Club (District 4970), and the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI). Project Leader: Enrique Topolansky, Associate Professor of Information Systems, School of Engineering. Funding: European Commission (EC) Duration: 36 months
