Professor and Coordinator of Science and Biotechnology at the ORT Institute of Technology, Rio de Janeiro. Activity: taught a course module on the subject “Ethical and Social Aspects of Biotechnology” for the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology, August 22–24. Dr. Valeria Grazú (Spain) Professor and researcher in the Nanoparticle Biofunctionalization Group at the Aragon Institute of Nanoscience, University of Zaragoza. Activity: taught the course “Synthesis and Applications of Gold Nanoparticles,” aimed at the Biotechnology research area, September 6–7; taught the seminar “Designing Biofunctional Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications” for students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology, September 8. Dr. Natalia Juristo (Spain) Professor of Software Engineering at the School of Computer Science, Polytechnic University of Madrid. Activity: delivered the lecture “The Role of the Scientific Method in Software Development,” March 24, and the course “Experimentation in Software Engineering” as part of the Master’s in Research Engineering, March 21–25. Dr. Tomás San Feliu (Spain) Associate Professor in the Department of Languages and Systems at the School of Computer Science, Polytechnic University of Madrid. Activity: taught the course “Six Sigma Applied to Software Process Improvement” as part of the Master’s in Research Engineering, April 4–8. Dr. Daniel Gianola (United States) Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences and Biostatistics & Medical Informatics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Activity: delivered the lecture “Prediction of Complex Traits from DNA and Genealogies,” December 14. Prof. Patrick Maillé (France) Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Université Pierre et Marie Curie. Assistant Professor of Networks and Security in the Multimedia Department at Institut Télécom de Télécom Bretagne.
