Visiting professor in the Bachelor’s Program in Animation and Video Games as part of the agreement between the School of Communication and Design and CalArts, October through December; gave the lecture “The Character Behind the Character in ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’” as part of the sixth edition of the “International Animation Festival,” October 25; led the workshop “Visual Storytelling,” November 26–28. Joe Kelly (United States) Comic book artist for DC Comics and writer for Ben 10. He gave the lecture “Comics and Animation: X-Men and Ben 10,” organized by the Faculty’s Departments of Multimedia and Animation and Video Games with the support of Montevideo Comics and the U.S. Embassy in Uruguay, May 17. Janoj Piven (Israel) Illustrator and cartoonist. Contributor to the Haaretz newspaper. He gave a master class for illustration students in the Bachelor’s programs in Graphic Design and Animation and Video Games, May 8. Alejandra Vera (Paraguay) Full-time professor of the Digital Design and Graphics Workshop in Image and Vector Graphics for the Bachelor’s programs in Graphic Design and Fashion and Costume Design at the American University of Asunción. Norberto Baruch (Argentina) Journalist and designer. He was an infographics specialist and journalist for the newspaper La Nación and an editorial illustrator for the newspaper Clarín. Editor of the blog “VisualMente” on visual journalism and information design. They led the “Infografreak” workshop aimed at designers and journalists, November 6 and 7.
