126 2013 Yearbook The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) aims to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among students and strengthen ties between entrepreneurs and the business sector. In 2013, 18 business ideas were submitted to the CIE, which received support through mentoring and access to networks to help turn them into business models. The startups ArTur, proQpon, South American Treasure, ViperMed, workingmood, and Wupiti! underwent a rapid maturation process, establishing themselves as companies. The startups Paganza, ViperMed, and Wupiti! received funding from the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII). In 2013, the CIE organized the workshops “Idea Generation” (April), “Successful Strategies for Thriving Companies” (June), “Leader & Art” (July), and “Entrepreneurial DNA” (October), and developed 40 activities aimed at raising awareness among young people and motivating their entrepreneurial spirit, reaching more than 1,100 people. HIGHLIGHTED STARTUPS IN 2013 ArTur. Entrepreneurs: Matias Preciozzi, a student in the Programmer Analyst program. An application based on augmented reality technology for tourism. Using a smartphone, the user can identify monuments, buildings, squares, and points of interest. The app provides information related to the selected item in various multimedia formats. http://arturmobile.com proQpon. Entrepreneurs: Maia Hojman, graduate in Public Accounting; Yonathan Lapchik, graduate in Systems Engineering; Denise Latarowski, graduate in Industrial Design; Tamara Wysokikamien, graduate in Graphic Design; Daniel Ehrlich; and Sergio Wolman. Mobile app and web platform, http://www.proqpon.com, which aggregates promotions and discounts from a wide variety of businesses across various sectors. South American Treasure. Entrepreneurs: Sebastian Solla, graduate of the Commercial Management Program, and Sebastián Puei Pérez. A startup focused on the commercial sector of Uruguay’s mineral industry (crystals, quartz, and diamonds).
