58 2013 Yearbook “8th ICT Job Fair” On September 24, the Graduate Affairs Office of the School of Engineering organized the “8th ICT Job Fair,” which was designated as being of educational interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The event aims to support the transition of students and graduates into the workforce. A total of 22 companies and organizations participated, including: Gallito.com, Globant, Integración Afap, Mercado Libre, Moove-IT, República Afap, Tata Consultancy Services, Tenaris, and UruIT, as well as the consulting firms Advice and Manpower. This year, Alejandro Marcu, a Software Engineer at Facebook, attended the event to conduct recruitment interviews with students and graduates of the Systems Engineering and Systems Science programs, offering 12-week internships at the company. Juan Felipe Coirolo, an advanced Systems Engineering student, completed an internship at Facebook’s Seattle offices. Engineering Project Fairs The Faculty’s Graduate Coordination Office held two Engineering Project Fairs, which took place on March 13 and August 20. Their goal is to foster connections between students and the industry. The office invited the industrial sector to present projects to students that have academic or research value, with the aim of being addressed in their thesis projects. Through this initiative, companies have the opportunity to incorporate innovation and added value through engagement with academia, while students can gain practical experience in their future professional roles by addressing real-world needs of the socio-productive sector. More than 100 students and 30 companies participated. 16th Ibero-American Congress on Software Engineering “CIbSE 2013” From April 8 to 10, the 16th Ibero-American Congress on Software Engineering “CIbSE 2013” took place at the faculty, organized by the University of the Republic through the Software Engineering Group of the Faculty of Engineering, Universidad ORT Uruguay Antel. The event featured research presentations, tutorials, doctoral symposia, and lectures by renowned experts. A total of 148 students, faculty members, authors, sponsors, and officials from 9 countries participated. OUTREACH ACTIVITIES 2013
