2014 Yearbook - Universidad ORT Uruguay

3 MESSAGE FROM RECTOR . Jorge Grünberg I am pleased to share with you some of our university’s activities from 2014. As with any selection, it is not possible to include every initiative undertaken, but I am confident that the brief summary presented in this yearbook will allow you to appreciate the dynamism, diversity, and creativity of our academic community. In 2014, the first graduates received their degrees in Biotechnology and in Animation and Video Games, two university programs unique in Uruguay. We are confident that these professionals will open new paths for the development of these disciplines in our country. The School of Business and Social Sciences was once again ranked among the top 35 in Latin America in the annual ranking by América Economía magazine and recognized as an Excellent Business School in the Eduniversal Business Schools Ranking 2014. It was also designated as a Partner in Learning by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, one of the most internationally recognized professional accounting organizations. Since 2014, our university has been a member of the Cladea Balas Case Consortium, which allows us to publish educational case studies in management disciplines on the Harvard Business Publishing website. In 2014, 1,180 professionals graduated. More than 40 faculty members and researchers from our university were classified as active researchers by the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII). We maintain academic agreements with 160 universities and international organizations in 29 countries, which promote academic exchange. This year, 149 international students took courses at our university, and 110 of our students spent semesters at foreign universities. In this era of great challenges for our continent, we are committed to continuing to contribute to development through new and innovative proposals for university education and scientific research.
