He attended the 3rd International Meeting of University Presidents organized by Universia, under the theme “The University of the 21st Century: A Reflection from Ibero-America,” with the participation of more than 1,100 university presidents from 46 countries, in Rio de Janeiro on July 28 and 29. On that occasion, he held a meeting with the rector the University of Edinburgh, Prof. Sir Timothy O’Shea. Julio Fernández (Brazil) Academic Vice Rector. He participated as a peer evaluator in the ARCU-SUR Regional Accreditation System for the Food Engineering program at the State University of Maringá, Paraná, September 1–5. He accompanied a delegation from the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology on its visit to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, September 15. Dr. Jorge Grünberg (United Kingdom), Rector. He delivered the presentation “The race between education and technology. Some comments on the essentiality of higher and vocational education in the knowledge society” as part of the annual World ORT Robert and Eileen Sill National Directors Forum and the Academic Advisory Council, London, June 17–20. Dr. Grünberg delivered the presentation “Higher education in the 21st century. Strategic threats and opportunities in a digital world.”
