73 OUTREACH ACTIVITIES 2015 International Animation Festival – FIA 15 The Academic Coordination of Animation at the School of Communication and Design organized the ninth edition of the International Animation Festival – FIA 15 from September 9 to 11, an event designated as being of Cultural Interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture. More than 200 entries from 53 countries participated in the categories of Animated Short Film, Experimental Animated Short Film, and Advertising Short Film/Music Video. The Grand Jury Prize and Best International Short Film in the Student category went to Chhaya by Nandy Debanjan (India). The Best Uruguayan Short Film in the Student category went to Michelle, by María Florencia Guerra and Georgine Herbig, students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Animation and Video Games, and the best Uruguayan animated short film was Noctiluca, by Juan Carve. Global Game Jam 2015 in Uruguay Six video games were created by teams of programmers and video game designers at the “Global Game Jam 2015 in Uruguay,” organized by Antel and the Video Game Department of the School of Communication and Design. The event took place from January 23 to 25 at the Telecommunications Tower. This global event, organized by the International Game Developers Association, was created to facilitate the exchange of experiences among video game developers, programmers, designers, musicians, animators, and illustrators. This year, it was held simultaneously at 518 venues across 78 countries. Participants were tasked with creating a video game in 48 hours based on a global theme revealed to them at the event. The theme was the phrase “What do we do now?”
