The startup Frame Alive, developed by Piuma alongside Lionel Quataert and supported by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was selected as one of the eight most innovative tools presented at the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) trade show in Las Vegas. February. Gonzalo Silva, graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design. His design studio I+D won the Silver LAD Award at the 2018 Latin American Design Awards (LAD18) in the Branding category for its work on the identity of the 57th National Visual Arts Award, held in Lima, Peru. March. Alfonso Guerrero and Marcos Hecht, students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a focus on Audiovisual Studies. Misión no oficial, the mockumentary produced by Guerrero and Hecht alongside Denny Brechner, received the Silver Biznaga Audience Award at the Málaga Film Festival in Spain. April. Maite Fernández Torello, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a major in Journalism from Universidad ORT Uruguay a Master’s in Multimedia Journalism from the University of Maryland. She was appointed Operations Editor in the International section of The Washington Post. May. Agustina Babic and Amy Beitler, students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design. Their proposal, “Symbiotic Montevideo,” received the most votes in the Montevideo Más Verde contest organized by the Municipality of Montevideo as part of Environment Day. June.
