Meanwhile, the School of Architecture launched a graduate program in Design, Calculation, and Construction of Wooden Structures, offered jointly with the School of Engineering at the University of the Republic. La Casa Uruguaya, a self-sustaining home designed by students and graduates from all faculties and winner of the 2015 Solar Decathlon Latin America and the Caribbean international competition, received special recognition from the Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining as part of the 10th anniversary of the National Energy Efficiency Award. In 2018, 1,156 professionals graduated. More than 35 faculty members and researchers from our university were classified as active researchers by the National System of Researchers. We maintain academic agreements with more than 180 universities in 32 countries, which promote academic exchange. This year, 113 international students took courses at our university, and 47 participated in the University Study Abroad Consortium programs, comprising more than 30 universities in the United States, of which our university is a host. In turn, 154 of our students spent semesters at universities in Germany, Australia, Belgium, Canada, South Korea, China, Spain, the United States, Finland, France, Israel, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. In this technological age, which offers enormous opportunities and challenges, we aspire to a dynamic and creative society and promote the development of ethical standards in the use of new technologies.
