She completed a research internship at the Institute of Chemical Synthesis and Homogeneous Catalysis at the University of Zaragoza, in Dr. Fernando López Gallego’s laboratory, in Zaragoza, from May 17 to July 27. Prof. Martín Monteiro (Spain) Coordinator of the Physics Laboratory. Presented the paper “Physics experiments using simultaneously several smartphone sensors” 10 at the GIREP 2018 International Conference (Groupe International de Recherche sur l'Enseignement de la Physique) organized by GIREP and Multimedia in Physics Teaching and Learning, San Sebastián, July 9–13. Sonali Correa, B.S. (Spain) Research Teaching Assistant in Biotechnology. She completed a research stay at the Aragón Institute of Nanoscience at the University of Zaragoza with Dr. Valeria Grazú, Zaragoza, September 10 to December 10. 10 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Arturo Martí, Professor of Applied Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of the Republic (Udelar), and Dr. Cecilia Stari, Professor of Solid-State Physics at the Faculty of Engineering of Udelar. Dr. Lorena Betancor (Spain) Professor of Protein Technology. She completed a two-week research visit at the Aragón Institute of Nanoscience at the University of Zaragoza with Dr. Valeria Grazú, September 10–21. Prof. Martín Monteiro (United States) Coordinator of the Physics Laboratory. He presented the papers “Even more physics experiments using your smartphone” 11 , “The triplets paradox,” and “Measuring vertical velocities of elevators using smartphone pressure sensors” 12 at the American Association of Physics Teachers Summer Meeting 2018 in Washington, July 28–August 1. Dr. Fernando Paganini (United States) Professor of Telecommunications Theory. He visited Caltech (California Institute of Technology), where he gave the seminar “Achieving fairness for EV charging in overload: a fluid approach” on September 10. In addition, he presented the poster “Population dynamics in networks” on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Packard Fellows, known this year as the Packard Fellowships for Science and Engineering – 30th Anniversary Reunion, in his capacity as a Packard Fellow, San Diego, September 5–12. 11 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Cecilia Cabeza and Dr. Arturo Martí, professors of Applied Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of the Republic (Udelar), and Dr. Cecilia Stari, professor of Solid-State Physics at the Faculty of Engineering of Udelar. 12 Conducted together with Dr. Arturo Martí, professor of Applied Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of the Republic.
