His startup was the winner of the Second Edition of Pasaporte Emprendedor, a program organized by Endeavor Uy, ANII, and Latu for technology-based startups aiming to expand internationally. Sosei. Entrepreneurs: Magdalena Iturria, Chemical Engineer, and Santiago Centena, Agricultural Technician. Their startup took second place in the ClimateLaunchpad competition, winning €5,000 (five thousand euros). ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s largest competition for eco-friendly business ideas. Its mission is to unlock the potential of the world’s clean technologies to address climate change. Helpers. Entrepreneur: Michael Rubinstein, Bachelor of Systems (Universidad ORT Uruguay). His startup won the international social impact competition, the Shalom Corps Award, receiving US$10,000 (ten thousand U.S. dollars) for its development. Shalom Corps is a global Jewish volunteer organization that seeks to promote mutual responsibility. Hifa. Entrepreneurs: Felipe Machado Casini, Biotechnology Engineer (Universidad ORT Uruguay); Guadalupe Sonneveld, Industrial Designer (Universidad ORT Uruguay); and Gabriela da Rosa, Bachelor’s in Biochemistry and Master’s in Biological Sciences. Their venture was recognized by the National Agency for Development, through its Uruguay Circular program, as the circular venture of the year. The award recognizes initiatives that promote the country’s transition toward a circular economy and is organized by MIEM (Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining), PAGE Uruguay, ANDE (National Development Agency), and UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization). Enteria. Entrepreneur: María Pía Campot Moreira, Biotechnology Engineer (Universidad ORT Uruguay). María Pía was selected by the U.S. Embassy in Uruguay as one of five Uruguayans to participate in the 2021 edition of YLAI / Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative. The program includes working with a host organization in the United States that aligns with the entrepreneur’s business challenge, having an assigned mentor, collaborating with other fellows on shared challenges, and participating in intercultural events and activities.
