14 2020 Yearbook NEW DEGREES AND COURSES 2020 School of Engineering Master’s in Big Data (2 years) Big data analytics involves identifying valuable information hidden within multiple heterogeneous, unrelated, and unstructured data sources, with the aim not only of describing and/or diagnosing a phenomenon, but also of predicting it in advance, making appropriate decisions, and taking effective actions in real time to achieve measurable objectives. The Master’s in Big Data provides theoretical knowledge and practical experience in managing big data technology, with the aim of training highly qualified professionals to successfully tackle the challenges involved in analyzing large volumes of data. Specialization Diploma in Artificial Intelligence (1 year) The objective of this graduate program is to train professionals capable of building intelligent computational systems—that is, systems that can infer predictive models from data, make rational decisions autonomously, and improve their effectiveness in light of new empirical evidence, beyond the capabilities of any expert. It provides essential theoretical knowledge for building advanced machine learning algorithms and practical experience in handling technologies for the engineering of intelligent computational systems. The curriculum emphasizes reinforcement learning and deep learning, fundamental pillars of modern artificial intelligence.
