Charlotte de Grünberg, Executive Director of ORT Uruguay, was the 2020 recipient of the Robert Singer Award for Outstanding Senior ORT Professionals, which ORT presents globally in recognition of her professional achievements and the high standards of excellence she has attained at the institution. This award takes on special significance this year, as ORT celebrates its 140th anniversary of global existence. The Vice Dean of Research at our School of Engineering, Dr. Fernando Paganini, heads the government’s Honorary Scientific Advisory Group (GACH) on COVID-19, alongside Drs. Rafael Radi and Henry Cohen. In 2020, 1,263 professionals graduated. A total of 42 faculty members and researchers from our university were classified as active researchers by the National System of Researchers. We maintain academic agreements with more than 200 universities and international organizations in 33 countries, which promote academic exchange. This year, 34 international students took courses at our university, and another 34 participated in the University Study Abroad Consortium programs, which comprise more than 30 universities in the United States and are hosted by our university. In turn, 43 of our students spent semesters at universities in Germany, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Spain, Finland, and France. This has been an unprecedented year for humanity, marked by fears, limitations, uncertainties, and tragedies. But our graduates have been a beacon of light amid these shadows, having successfully completed their university studies. This is a great achievement and a strength that will serve as a foundation for their personal development and for contributing to the lives of others and to society at large.
