53 Universidad ORT Uruguay of Communication and Design Recreation 10 Recreation is an academic initiative designed to foster connections with Uruguayan companies and productive ventures, bringing together, under the Integrative Project, the project proposals of students in their final semester of the Bachelor’s programs in Graphic, Industrial, and Fashion Design. The Integrative Project is an individual or group academic-level assignment designed to ensure that students achieve and demonstrate the competence necessary to methodologically integrate the multidisciplinary training of their degree program through a tangible product created in partnership with a company, industry, or organization. Since its first edition in 2007, 68 companies and 149 students have participated in Recreación, www.ort.edu.uy/fcd/pdf/recreacion10.pdf Tipos Latinos 2010 Universidad ORT Uruguay the event "Tipos Latinos 2010 - Fourth Biennial of Latin American Typography,” which took place on March 22 and 23 at the School of Communication and Design. The works selected by the jury were part of a main exhibition that toured, in April, venues in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay, and Venezuela. Presentation of works by students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design On July 22, the presentation “Ánimas fugitivas” took place at the Jockey Club in Montevideo, where 7th-semester students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design presented their creations. This exhibition was the result of the knowledge acquired in the course Design and Production of Fashion Events. “Yo propongo” Contest The School of Communication and Design organized the “Yo propongo” Communication Contest, aimed at 10th and 11th-grade high school students. It was supported by El Espectador, Urbana FM, and Espectador.com. Participants submitted proposals in the categories of Audiovisual, Corporate, Journalism, and Advertising. The jury selected the two best entries, which were awarded a full scholarship to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. The winners were Carolina Ruiz, a student at Liceo Departamental No. 1 Eugenio Capdevielle (Fray Bentos), and Teresa Domínguez, a student at Liceo No. 1 Dr. Roberto Taruselli (Dolores). International Animation Festival – FIA 2010 On October 25 and 26, the fourth edition of the "International Animation Festival" (FIA’10) took place at the School of Communication and Design. This festival showcases animations created by students and graduates of animation schools, independent animators, and production companies. It also creates a space for artistic and technological reflection on the discipline of animation. Since its first edition in 2007, the festival has received entries from more than 20 countries across nearly every continent, with the number of submissions increasing in subsequent editions. This year, 80 entries from eleven countries participated. The Grand Jury Prize and Best Animated Short Film went to "Copia A" by Argentine filmmaker Gervasio Rodríguez. www.ort.edu.uy/ fia10 OUTREACH AND DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES 2010
