43 Universidad ORT Uruguay of Engineering Market Research and Identification of Regional Biobusiness Opportunities The project’s overall objective is to identify and prioritize business opportunities in national and regional markets within biotechnology-related value chains where the country has clear comparative and competitive advantages. Project Leaders: Fabián Capdevielle, Instructor of the course Introduction to Biotechnology in the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology; Jorge de los Santos, Associate Academic Coordinator of Biotechnology; and Anabella Cosentino, Director of the Eurocenter at the National Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay Funding: National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) Duration: 6 months Content Propagation in Distributed Dynamic Networks The project aims to develop a line of research on the dynamics of networks that distribute content, such as peer-to-peer networks, as well as other wireless-based networks. Principal Investigators: Andrés Ferragut, Associate Professor of Data Networks; Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory and Researcher; and Martín Zubeldía, Research Teaching Assistant in the MATE (Mathematics Applied to Telecommunications) group. Funding: National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) Duration: 12 months PROJECTS INITIATED IN 2012 Markets, auctions, and new technologies in the Uruguayan electricity sector The objective of the project is to conduct interdisciplinary research on issues of regulation and electricity markets, and their relationship with new technologies currently being implemented, such as renewable energy and smart grids. It establishes the creation of an interdisciplinary research group. Principal Investigator: Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory and Researcher, School of Engineering. Funding: Julio Ricaldoni Foundation and National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) Duration: 18 months Programming languages and methods in type theory The objective of the project is to contribute to the methodology of the formal treatment of the metatheory of programming languages and functional programming with dependent types. Principal Investigator: Nora Szasz, Academic Coordinator of Systems Engineering, School of Engineering. Funding: National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) Duration: 20 months
