44 2012 Yearbook Faculty of Communication and Design ORT - CalArts - ANII Partnership The goal of the project is to strengthen the faculty of the Bachelor’s Degree in Animation and Video Games through visits by professors from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) to the Faculty of Communication and Design. Project Leader: Eduardo Hipogrosso, Dean of the School of Communication and Design. Funding: National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) Duration: 17 months Development of biopesticides for agricultural use The objective of the project is to isolate and characterize, both phenotypically and molecularly, native strains of Bacillus thuringiensis for the development of a bioinsecticide for agricultural use. Principal Investigator: Carlos Sanguinetti, Academic Coordinator of Biotechnology, School of Engineering. Funding: Lage y Cía. and National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) Duration: 24 months Content dynamics in the network cloud The objective of the project is to develop a mathematical theory that will be applied to the propagation of content in dynamic distributed networks. This continues the line of research conducted since 2006 on content delivery networks and wireless networks. Principal Investigator: Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory and Researcher, School of Engineering. Funding: The U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Duration: 36 months Eco Trabajando The objective of the project is to contribute to reducing the effects of climate change by promoting the adoption of renewable energy sources for homes and small businesses through the creation of new jobs for young people. Project Leader: Enrique Topolansky, Coordinator of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Funding: European Commission (EC) and El Abrojo Duration: 36 months PROJECTS INITIATED IN 2012
