53 Universidad ORT Uruguay OUTREACH Universidad ORT Uruguay 2012 School of Architecture Eighth edition of the "Design Your Room" contest The School of Architecture, with the support of Radio Disney, organized the eighth edition of the "Design Your Room" contest. Forty-two students in their 11th and 12th grades from public and private schools across the country participated. The first-place winner, María Noel Rodríguez from the Centro Educativo Líbano in Montevideo, received a full scholarship to study Architecture or pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, and the two second-place winners, Carlos Díaz from Liceo No. 1 in Salinas and Lucas López from Liceo Libertad in San José, each received a 40% scholarship to pursue one of those degree programs. Presentation of the exhibition “Reciclá - Redesigning Vintage Clothing” On May 24, the presentation of the design exhibition “Reciclá - Redesigning Vintage Clothing” took place at the headquarters of the Israeli Community of Uruguay. This exhibition showcased the results produced by students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design during the academic activity “Integrative Project – ReCreación 12” for Meilí, a community clothing bank run by volunteers who work with over 300 families and distribute donations to soup kitchens, schools, NGOs, and people in emergency situations. The goal of this project, which blends design, innovation, and creativity in fashion, was to recycle and redesign donated garments and create new collections that convey the concept of reusing products as a way to care for the environment and raise public awareness of the value of secondhand or vintage clothing.
