His article “Inter-Generational Effects of Land Titling Programs: Physical vs. Human Capital” won first prize in the Global Development Awards and Medals Competition, organized by the Global Development Network, in the thematic area “The Enabling Environment – Housing, Transportation, and Infrastructure.” The prize was shared with Rivayani Darmawan, a researcher at the University of Göttingen, Germany. June. He was also named a “Foreign Research Fellow” of the Bolivian Academy of Economic Sciences after winning the “Best Paper Award” at the “4th Bolivian Conference on Development Economics” for his article “Peer Effects in Risk Aversion,” co-authored with Ana Balsa and Nicolás González, respectively. November. Additionally, he was selected as a distinguished professor in a ranking of fifteen professors from Latin American business schools by the magazine América Economía. May. Martín Giura, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Administration program; Martín Larre, a graduate of the Marketing Analyst program; and Leonardo Silveira, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Administration program. Their startup “woOw!”, pre-incubated by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, received the “New Players in Uruguay” award at the “eCommerce Awards Uruguay 2012.” July. Furthermore, their startup was named “Entrepreneur of 2012” in a competition for outstanding startups organized by the El Observador website. December. Norma Pontet Professor of Management Accounting. She was appointed Editorial Director of the journal of the International Cost Institute. February. She was also appointed reviewer for the journal “Ciencias Económicas. Investigación y Reflexión,” a peer-reviewed journal in Colombia. October.
