61 Universidad ORT Uruguay “Social Media Day” Universidad ORT Uruguay On July 24, the “Social Media Day” seminar took place at the Movie Theater, organized by the School of Communication and Design and supported by the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) and Antel. Sixteen speakers from Uruguay and abroad presented ideas, best practices, emerging trends, and predictions regarding the use of social media in Uruguay and around the world. “National Video Game and Educational Simulation Contest” The Ingenio Incubator, Antel, and Universidad ORT Uruguay the eighth edition of the “National Video Game and Educational Simulation Contest.” The main objective of the event was to encourage the development of high-quality video games in Uruguay. On this occasion, 24 participants submitted proposals in two categories: Video Games and Educational Software. The two first-place winners received round-trip tickets to San Francisco, including accommodation and admission to the Game Developers Conference, considered the most important international event in the field of video game development. The final thesis project “Edu Games” by Mónica Carle and Rodolfo Olivera, students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Systems, won first prize in the “Educational Games” category. School of Architecture Ninth edition of the “Design Your Room” contest The School of Architecture organized, with the support of Radio Disney, the ninth edition of the “Design Your Room” contest. Fifty-three students in their 5th and 6th years of secondary school from public and private institutions across the country participated. The first-prize winner, Elías Betancor from Liceo El Pinar No. 1, received a full scholarship to study Architecture or a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, and the two second-prize winners, Delfina Acosta from Colegio Stella Maris and Julieta Charquero from Instituto Arnold Gesell, each received a 40% scholarship to pursue one of those degrees. “Parada 17 Ideas Competition” The School of Architecture and the architectural firm WSW (Weiss Sztryk Weiss) organized the “Parada 17 Ideas Competition,” which consisted of the presentation of preliminary designs for residential complexes in Punta del Este. The competition aimed to conduct an academic exercise with real-world implications in the real estate sector, promoting research into possible architectural and urban planning solutions to develop a high-quality proposal of interest to the area. The first prize was awarded to Patricia Abella and Josefina Carrau, architecture students, for their project “ACME.” EXTENSION ACTIVITIES 2013
