9 The School of Management and Social Sciences was recognized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. In October 2014, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) recognized the Graduate School of the School of Management and Social Sciences as a “Partner in Learning.” ICAEW is one of the world’s most prestigious professional accounting organizations. It was founded in 1880 and is currently headquartered in London. Ranking of the Best Business Schools in Latin America For the nineteenth consecutive year, the School of Management and Social Sciences was the only Uruguayan business school ranked among the best in Latin America in the annual ranking published by América Economía magazine. In 2014, the school ranked 34th. Uruguay’s First Biotechnology Graduates In June 2014, the first 13 students graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology. This degree program, the only undergraduate biotechnology program in Uruguay, began in March 2010 with the support of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII). INSTITUTIONAL NEWS 2014
