97 AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS 2014 Institutional The documentary *Giza, the Girl in the Suitcase*, directed by Dr. Serrano Blanquer of Ramón Llull University in Barcelona and co-produced by Universidad ORT Uruguay, won the Best Film Award at the 11th Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival. February. Charlotte de Grünberg, General Director of ORT Uruguay, was honored with a plaque of recognition from the Maldonado Departmental Government at the opening of the 11th Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival, of which she has been a member of the Honorary Committee since its first edition. February. School of Engineering: Gastón Arbeletche, Mariana Morales, and Álvaro Muhlethaler, graduates of Systems Engineering. Their startup LockIT, supported by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, won the National Franchise Award granted by the National Directorate of Handicrafts, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (Dinapyme) and the Uruguayan Chamber of Franchises. February. Rosario Monteverde, a graduate in Systems Engineering, and Magdalena Rodríguez, a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. Their GPS Gay app, supported by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, won first prize in the AppCircusMVD competition, which recognizes the best apps in Uruguay. November. Additionally, GPS Gay was Uruguay’s finalist in the Intel Challenge, so the graduates traveled to California to represent the country in Silicon Valley. June. Ariel Burschtin, a graduate in Systems Engineering; Álvaro García, a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Systems; and Ruben Sosenke, a graduate in Information Technology Analysis. Their startup Pedidos Ya!, supported by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, won the 2014 Emerging Entrepreneur Award presented by EY (formerly Ernst & Young). September.
