She received the Professor Carlos Casas-Campillo Award for Best Oral Presentation for her presentation of the paper “Microbial community analysis of a full-scale winery wastewater treatment system” at the 4th International Symposium on Environmental Biotechnology and Engineering (ISEBE4), held in Mexico City. September. Diego Cáceres, Rafael Clement, Federico Sendra, and Juan Manuel Sobral, graduates of the Systems Engineering program. Their project “BioMotion—a virtual simulator of a laminar flow cabinet using natural user interfaces” won the award in the Computer Science Thesis Projects category of the National Academy of Engineering’s Project Competition. The advisor was Gastón Mousques, academic coordinator of the faculty’s Software Factory. December. Martín Fernández Rodríguez, a graduate in Information Technology Analysis, and Juan Vázquez, a graduate in Systems Engineering. Their company ProSignIT Systems, supported by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was awarded second prize in the Emprendedores en la Mira competition, organized by the Support Network for Future Entrepreneurs. August. Nora Szasz, academic coordinator of Systems Engineering. Her article “Model-Driven Engineering in the Heterogeneous Tool Set,” presented at the 17th Brazilian Symposium on Formal Methods (SBMF) 2014, won the Second Best Paper Award. The event, organized by the Brazilian Computer Society, took place in Maceió (Brazil). September. Kevin Natanzon and Carlos Vega, Systems Engineering students. Their startup Al Toque, supported by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, won second prize in the AppCircusMVD competition. November. AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS 2014
