Dr. Ángela Cabezas (United States) Microbiology Laboratory Instructor. She presented the paper “Microbial community composition of a full-scale winery effluent wastewater treatment system: Deepening our knowledge of Chloroflexi populations” 11 at the Gordon Research Conference: Applied & Environmental Microbiology, South Hadley, Massachusetts, July 12–17. Dr. Fernando Paganini (United States) Professor of Telecommunications Theory. He delivered the lecture “Population dynamics in networks: from queues to PDEs and control, from P2P to deferrable power loads” at the workshop Distributed Control and Decision Making over Networks, organized by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, University of Minnesota, September 28–October 2. Dr. Álvaro Tasistro (France) Professor of Computer Science. He presented the paper “Presentation of classical propositional tableaux on programme premises” at the 4th International Conference on Tools for Teaching Logic, organized by the University of Rennes 1, Rennes, June 9–12. Dr. Fernando Paganini (India) Professor of Telecommunications Theory. He presented the paper “Trading off efficiency and reciprocity in wireless peer-to-peer file sharing” 13 at the 13th International Symposium on Modeling and Optimization in Mobile, Ad Hoc and Wireless Networks, organized by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Mumbai, May 25–29. Dr. Santiago Matalonga (England) Research Professor in Software Engineering. Participated as a researcher in the project “Image-guided surgery: an interdisciplinary approach to optimize surgeries” at Imperial College, funded by the British Embassy in Uruguay, December 5–14. 10 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory, and Dr. Andrés Ferragut, Associate Professor in the Data Networks area. 11 Conducted together with Agustina Ziliani and Angelina Saadoun, students in the Bachelor’s Program in Biotechnology. 12 Conducted together with Juan Michelini, professor of Computer Logic. 13 Conducted together with Dr. Andrés Ferragut, associate professor in the Data Networks area, and Martín Zubeldía, graduate of the Master’s in Engineering by Research.
