71 STUDENT PROJECTS WITH EXTERNAL ORGANIZATIONS 2016 School of Engineering SMC: Air Emissions Reception and Monitoring System Authors: Diego Capdevielle, Federico Cladera, Eduardo Correa, and Diego Lanz Organization: National Environmental Directorate (DINAMA) The objective of this project is to automate DINAMA’s manual system for receiving, processing, and monitoring air emissions data. To meet the requirements of the Environmental Information Division, the SMC system replaces the current practice of companies regulated by this division submitting information via electronic spreadsheets with the publication of a RESTful Web Service. It includes the development for the Department of Environmental Control of Activities of a web-based system for monitoring emissions from industrial plants and a risk situation alarm system, which provide the ability to view graphs that allow for the monitoring of pollution levels. Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Advisor: Álvaro Ortas Multimodal Neuromonitoring Authors: Alejandro Álvarez, Ariel Gómez, and Darío Ravera Organization: Neurointensive Care and Neuroemergency Group at the Hospital de Clínicas This project is set within the context of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where doctors use various instruments to assess patients’ conditions. The Neurointensive Care and Neuroemergency Group at Hospital de Clínicas, as well as the Latin American Brain Injury Consortium (LABIC), have researched new techniques in the field of cerebral autoregulation in patients with severe injuries. This work has advanced multimodal neuromonitoring (real-time processing of data from different monitoring techniques using integrated computerized systems), generating prototypes that enable the acquisition of signals obtained by medical instruments. The objective of this project is, based on the existing prototype, to develop a software platform that enables the acquisition of these signals for subsequent analysis by physicians and researchers.
