155 ACTIVITIES OF THE CENTER FOR INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP (CIE) IN 2017 The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) aims to foster an entrepreneurial culture among students and strengthen ties between entrepreneurs and the business sector. It features an innovation lab where all areas of knowledge and development at the university converge. In 2017, 228 business ideas were submitted through the “Submit Your Idea” website, of which 23 were presented to the selection committee and all were approved to begin their incubation period: Agency Booster, Agrobeep, ArcaHub, Como en casa, FAS, Gato Renato, Frame Alive, Helpers, Krooping, Lookeate en casa, Made in Me, Metboss, MeetThePro.com, MiCheque, Mi Vestidor, No Hay Tope, NudaProp.com, Project Of Humanity, Pump, Punta Capital, Unify.bar, Wikimúsculos, and Zafrales. With the support of the CIE, 11 new startups were launched in 2017: Helpers, Inversionate, Made in Me, Metboss, MiCheque, MobileBox, No Hay Tope, NudaProp.com, Pump, Punta Capital, and Wikimúsculos. Meanwhile, in 2017, seven projects that took their first steps with the support of the CIE graduated to consolidate their position in the market: Colectate, GPS GAY, Infomarcas, Inversionate, Ionic Themes, SimDesign, and Somos Acompañantes. In 2017, the CIE organized 33 events aimed at raising awareness and training young people in their development as entrepreneurs, including meetings with entrepreneurs, challenges, inspirational talks, workshops with companies, and networking workshops. It also developed 60 activities designed to foster an entrepreneurial mindset, with the participation of more than 1,800 university students.
