156 2017 Yearbook: NOTABLE STARTUPS IN 2017 PedidosYa. Entrepreneurs: Ariel Burschtin, graduate of the Systems Engineering program; Álvaro García, graduate of the Systems Science program; and Ruben Sosenke, graduate of the Information Technology Analyst program. The German company Delivery Hero, of which PedidosYa has been a part since 2014, went public on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, boosting its potential for expansion and growth in the online delivery market. 1000 Razones. Entrepreneur: María Macarena Zas Rovella, a student in the Bachelor’s in Management and Administration program. Rural UY. Entrepreneurs: Eli Barnett, a graduate in Systems Engineering; Mateo Capdevielle, a graduate in Software Analysis and Programming; and Ignacio de Paula, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Systems. Both startups were selected from among 20 local companies to participate in the 500 Montevideo Accelerator Program, promoted by the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU), Uruguay XXI, the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), and the National Development Agency (ANDE). The program concluded with a demo day, where each entrepreneur presented their project to local and regional investors. Black & Liberty. Entrepreneurs: Florencia Domínguez, a graduate of the Clothing Technician program, and María Piñeyrúa, a graduate of the Fashion Producer program. It won second prize in the Itaú Program for fashion entrepreneurs, which took place during the 14th edition of MoWeek, a fashion event held at the LATU Exhibition Park. Black&Liberty was also chosen as the audience favorite. City COP. Entrepreneurs: Nadim Curi and Marcelo Dotti, graduates of the Master’s in Technology Business Management. This citizen alert platform for reporting crimes was one of the finalist apps in the AppCircus 2017 competition. This competition selects the best apps from Uruguay to compete in Barcelona for the title of the world’s best app. Paganza. Entrepreneurs: Marcelo Lanfranconi, a graduate of Systems Engineering, and Leonardo Vernazza, a graduate of Computer Engineering, University of the Republic. This app, which allows users to pay monthly bills from their cell phone or the web, was recognized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI) as the best app in the Uruguayan technology industry in 2017.
