63 PROJECTS LAUNCHED OR APPROVED IN 2017 Optimization of recombinant microbial transglutaminase expression in Lactococcus lactis This project, in which Biotechnology Engineering student Verónica Kaufmann is participating, proposes a new system for the production of food-grade recombinant transglutaminase in Lactococcus lactis with the aim of reducing costs and offering a higher-quality product than current market alternatives. Principal Investigator: Rodrigo Achigar Funding: National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) and Levetech, within the framework of the Center for Innovation in Engineering (CII) Duration: 12 months Development of a molecular tool for the detection of Mycoplasma spp. in cell lines and viral cultures Mycoplasma spp. is a very common and persistent pathogen in cell and viral cultures; therefore, contamination that is not detected in time leads to economic and production losses. This project, in which Biotechnology Engineering student Sabine de León is participating, aims to develop techniques that enable the detection, prevention, and/or elimination of this contaminating pathogen. Principal Investigator: Lucía Fiestas Funding: National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) and Virbac, within the framework of the Center for Innovation in Engineering (CII) Duration: 12 months Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences Millennials’ Motivations in Higher Education This project aims to enhance understanding of the most appropriate teaching methodologies to motivate millennials in the learning process at the university level. Principal Investigator: Gustavo Rubinsztejn Funding: Carolan Research Institute Duration: 7 months
