99 ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES ABROAD 2017 Graziella Blengio, Architect (Argentina), Academic Secretary of the School of Architecture. She accompanied a group of students from Workshop 4 of the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design to participate in an academic activity with students from the Interior Design program at the University of Palermo, Buenos Aires, on September 26 and 27. Dr. Tyana Santini (Brazil) Adjunct Professor of Approaches and Problems in Architecture and Research Methodology. She presented the article “Ecocriticism for the makers of the built environment: The Place of sustainability in architecture and urban planning education” at the Thirteenth International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic & Social Sustainability, organized by the Universidade Federal Fluminense and the University of Illinois, Rio de Janeiro, January 19–21. Eng. Daniel Gómez (Chile) Faculty Advisor for the La Casa Uruguaya project. He spoke at the seminar “How to Build a Sustainable City?,” organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development of the Government of Chile and the organization La Ruta Solar as part of Specialist Day, Santiago, Chile, May 5. II Ibero-Latin American Congress on Wood in Construction, School of Architecture. Architect Laura Moya (Argentina), professor and researcher at the School of Architecture. She presented the papers “Influence of certain visual parameters on the tensile and parallel compression properties of pine wood pieces from Uruguayan plantations” 29 and “Determination of the elastic constants of fast-growing Uruguayan pine through compression and bending tests” 30 at the 2nd Latin American Congress on Wood Structures and 2nd Ibero-Latin American Congress on Wood in Construction CLEM+CIMAD 2017, Buenos Aires, May 17–19. 29 Conducted in collaboration with Andrea Cardoso and Hugo O’Neill, consultants from the Forestry Projects Department of the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU). 30 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Vanesa Baño, assistant professor at the Institute of Structures and Transportation of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of the Republic; Architect Juan Manuel González, research teaching assistant at the Faculty of Architecture of Universidad ORT Uruguay, Prof. Juan Perlas, professor of Strength of Materials at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of the Republic, and Matías Cagno and Hugo O’Neill, consultants from the Department of Forestry Projects at the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU).
