He ranked second in the list of Peru’s Top 25 Most Profitable CEOs compiled by Semanaeconómica.com, the business and economics portal of the Peruvian weekly magazine *Semana Económica*. October. Álvaro Pereira Ramela, graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. He won third prize in the 2018 edition of the Acadeco (National Academy of Economics) awards for young economists for his work “Agriculture in Uruguay – Possible Futures.” November. Norma Pontet, coordinator of the Graduate Program in Finance and professor of Management Accounting. She was appointed vice president of the Accounting Research Commission of the Inter-American Accounting Association (AIC) for the 2018–2019 term. May. Mauro Padula, a student in the Bachelor’s Program in International Studies. He was the only Uruguayan selected to participate in the 9th edition of the Program for the Strengthening of the Civil Service in Latin America, organized by the Botín Foundation and Brown University, alongside 32 students selected from across the continent. August. Paula Bouzout, a graduate in Public Accounting, alongside Constanza Boix and Sofía Boix. Her company, NudaProp, received an award for entrepreneurial spirit at the 2018 EmprendO Awards organized by the newspaper El Observador. November. Additionally, Como En Casa, a company founded by Rodrigo Machado, a graduate of the Master’s in Technology Business Management, alongside José Ignacio Ferrari and Rodrigo Sadias, was the second-most-voted project by the public. November. Sebastián Kanovich, a graduate of the Bachelor’s in Economics program and CEO of the Uruguayan company dLocal. He was one of 35 individuals selected by MIT Technology Review in Spanish for the “Innovators Under 35 Latin America 2018” list. December. Alejandro Ponce de León, a student in the Bachelor’s in Management and Administration program and the Bachelor of Business Administration program with a major in International Business at Florida International University (FIU). He was named to Florida International University’s Dean’s List, which recognizes students for their academic achievements. May. Ximena Aleman, a student in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. Her product, Prometeo—a platform that allows financial institutions to interoperate easily—was one of ten winners among 300 participants from across Latin America at the Startupbootcamp Fintech in Mexico, in which she participated with the support of the Zonamerica Innovation Fund, thereby gaining access to a three-month acceleration program in Mexico.
