Their project was selected as one of the top 5 in Argentina and Uruguay for creating a healthy beer in the “Create Your Own Beer” contest, a competition organized by Quilmes and Fábricas Nacionales de Cerveza for advanced university students in the region. November. Nicolás Cremona, Gonzalo Díaz, and José García, graduates of the Electronics Engineering program. The SmartWay startup, a graduate of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and led by Cremona, Díaz, and García, was chosen as one of the six winners of the first edition of Pasaporte Emprendedor, a program for technology-based startups organized by Endeavor Uy, the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), and the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU). November. Gonzalo Mesorio, a graduate in Systems Engineering; Mónica Mesorio, a graduate in Public Accounting; and Milton Rodríguez, a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Systems. The MiCheque startup, a graduate of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, led by Gonzalo and Mónica Mesorio and Rodríguez, along with Sebastián Pereira, was selected as one of the six winners of the first edition of Pasaporte Emprendedor. November. It was also recognized as an outstanding startup in the Camino a la Inversión program, organized by Uruguay XXI together with Piso 40, the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Uruguay (AJE), and the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII). May. Lorena Betancor, professor of Protein Technology. She was selected by the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) as Uruguay’s representative to attend a meeting at the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Division in Geneva for the preparation of a Green and Sustainable Chemistry manual.
