57 PROJECTS INITIATED OR APPROVED IN 2019 Data anonymization based on generative adversarial networks The objective of this project is to anonymize logs generated by devices and computer systems (network devices, WAFs, operating systems, and web servers, among others) for publication and/or subsequent use in cybersecurity applications. Project Leader: Sergio Yovine Funding: National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) Duration: 12 months Development and validation of an integrated system for the detection of cyanotoxins in water samples using HPLC and qPCR This project, the final thesis for the Biotechnology Engineering degree program by students Ignacio Gajer, Paula Pereira, and Florencia Skuras, consists of the study, development, and validation of strategies for quantifying hepatotoxins (microcystins and cylindrospermopsin) using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and quantitative PCR (qPCR). Principal Investigators: Enrique Topolansky and Mariana Umpiérrez Funding: National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) and Ecotech Laboratory, within the framework of the Center for Innovation in Engineering (CII) Duration: 12 months Faculty of Communication and Design and Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences Carolan Research Forum - Universidad ORT Uruguay This project involves organizing the Carolan Research Forum - Universidad ORT Uruguay competition, aimed at faculty and researchers from universities in Spain and Spanish-speaking Latin American countries. This open competition is open to applied research projects that promote the ideas of Dr. Geraldine Fennell, founder of the Carolan Research Institute. The selected research projects will be presented at a conference to be held at Universidad ORT Uruguay September 7, 2020.
