67 OUTREACH ACTIVITIES 2019 Department of Jewish Studies ORT Space at the 16th Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival Universidad ORT Uruguay its space at the 16th edition of the Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival, which took place from February 3 to 6. On this occasion, the books *Chinese and Jews: Bridges and Encounters Between Two Millennia-Old Civilizations*, by Prof. Gustavo Perednik, visiting professor at Universidad ORT Uruguay, presented by writer Diego Fischer, and *The Shoah: An Unresolved Phenomenon. National Socialism, the Shoah, History, and Memory: Reflections by Intellectuals and Historiographical Debates by Roberto Cyjon, a visiting professor at the university and former president of the Central Israeli Committee of Uruguay. In addition, Dr. Alberto Spektorowski, professor of Political Theory and Comparative Politics at Tel Aviv University, delivered the lecture “Israel and the Jewish Diaspora: Unity or Conflict of Identities?” at the invitation of the Israel Institute, and Prof. Gustavo Perednik spoke on “Amos Oz: Literature and Ideals,” among other lectures and activities. Teacher Training Course - Shoah: The Human Condition and Memory The Department of Jewish Studies organized the eighth edition of the course “Shoah: The Human Condition and Memory,” attended by teachers from the national secondary school system and educators from non-formal education. The course, held from July 1 to 5, aimed to introduce teachers to relevant aspects of the Shoah (Jewish Holocaust) and concepts such as human rights, genocide, and memory. The program was declared of ministerial interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture, and of educational interest by the Secondary Education Council.
