69 OUTREACH ACTIVITIES 2019 School of Engineering Arduino Day On March 15, the School of Engineering organized the fourth edition of the local Arduino Day, an event held simultaneously around the world and open to anyone who wishes to participate, regardless of whether they have experience or knowledge of engineering or design. As part of the event, two workshops were held—one for beginners and another for advanced participants—which were attended by 35 people. Arduino is an open-source hardware platform based on a board with a microcontroller and a development environment, designed to facilitate the use of electronics in multidisciplinary projects. Project Fairs at the School of Engineering 2019 On March 20, the first annual edition of the School of Engineering’s Project Fair took place, aimed at students in the Programmer Analyst, Bachelor of Systems, Systems Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, and Electronics Engineering programs. This year, the second event was held as an exclusive fair for Systems Engineering and the Bachelor’s in Systems on August 21, and a fair for the Programmer Analyst and Information Technology Analyst programs on August 28. Students chose from more than 40 proposals with academic or research value to be developed in their final-year projects. For participating companies and institutions—such as Agesic, ANII, Divino, GeneXus, Mercado Libre, the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries, the Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining, New Age Data, and Sonda Uruguay—this is an opportunity to engage students with their proposals and recruit talent.
