71 OUTREACH ACTIVITIES 2019 14th ICT Job Fair On September 12, the Graduate Affairs Office of the School of Engineering organized the 14th Information Technology Job Fair, which was designated as being of educational interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture and of ministerial interest by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. More than 50 companies and organizations participated, including Arnaldo C. Castro, BBVA, Despegar.com, DLocal, Globant, Jetmar, Mercado Libre, Moove-IT, Movistar, PedidosYa, Quanam, República AFAP, TATA Consultancy Services, Technisys, Toolbox, Urudata, and UTE. 18th ORT Programming Contest On September 12, the 19th edition of the ORT Programming Contest took place. The top two teams represented Uruguay in the Latin American Final of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), which took place in Buenos Aires on November 9, with the participation of 2,795 teams from 18 countries. The team consisting of Guillermo de Armas, Diego Pizzarello, and Agustín Rostagnol, Systems Engineering students, placed 269th (top 9.6%). Camino TICs Since 2010, the Camino TICs project has offered scholarships for technical courses and degree programs in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Its goal is to provide technical training to young people from low-income households in disciplines with high employment rates. In 2019, a total of 47 students participated, with support from the university’s student scholarship program and the companies Bantotal, Fundación Itaú, and Unión Capital AFAP. To date, more than 200 students have benefited from this project.
