He made an academic visit to Caltech, where he worked with the Computer and Mathematical Sciences group led by Prof. Adam Wierman to advance joint research in the field of energy, particularly regarding electric vehicles, as part of the project “Electric Vehicle Charging Management and Its Smart Integration with the Power Grid,” Pasadena, September 15–20. Dr. Fernando Paganini (France) Vice Dean of Research at the School of Engineering. Presented the paper “An optimization approach to load balancing, scheduling, and right sizing of cloud computing systems with data locality” at the 58th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Nice, December 11–13. Dr. Inés Friss de Kereki (Jamaica) Professor of Programming. She presented the paper “Application of Lean practices in the redesign of the Programming I course” at the 17th LACCEI (Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions) International Multi-Conference for Engineering, Education and Technology: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure for Sustainable Cities and Communities, Montego Bay, July 24–26. 11 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Andrés Ferragut, associate professor in the Data Networks area of the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad ORT Uruguay, and Eng. Diego Goldsztajn, a graduate in Telecommunications Engineering and former research teaching assistant at the Faculty of Engineering. Prof. Martín Monteiro (Mexico) Coordinator of the Physics Laboratory. He participated as a delegate for Uruguay in the 11th Latin American Astronomy and Astronautics Olympiad 2019, held in Puebla from October 21 to 25. He also delivered two lectures on smartphones as tools for learning mathematics, as part of the Sixth International Workshop “Trends in Research-Based Mathematics Education,” hosted by the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, November 13–16.
