He presented the paper “The search for practically relevant global metrics of grid synchronization performance” 7 at the Conference on Information Sciences and Systems (CISS 2019), Baltimore, March 20–22. He also presented the paper “Proximal optimization for resource allocation in distributed computing systems with data locality” 8 at the 57th Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control and Computing, Illinois, September 25–27. Dr. Rodrigo Achigar (United States) Coordinator of the Biotechnology Laboratory. María Pía Campot, Engineer (United States) Deputy Coordinator of the Biotechnology Laboratory. They participated in a course as part of the acceleration program at GridX, an Argentine company specializing in biotechnology with which they are working to internationalize their startup Enteria, which is dedicated to the study of the human microbiome as a diagnostic tool for gastrointestinal and neurological diseases, in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, June 21–28. 7 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Enrique Mallada, Assistant Professor, Johns Hopkins University, United States. 8 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Andrés Ferragut, associate professor in the Data Networks area of the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad ORT Uruguay, and Diego Goldsztajn, B.S. in Telecommunications Engineering and former research teaching assistant at the Faculty of Engineering. Prof. Martín Monteiro (United States) Coordinator of the Physics Laboratory. He participated as a guest speaker and presented the article “iPhysicsLabs: A lot of physics with smartphones” 9 and the academic posters “Smartphone Astronomy” 10 and “Statistical data basics with smartphone sensors” at the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) Summer Meeting, Provo, Utah, July 20–24. 9 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Cecilia Cabeza and Dr. Arturo Martí, professors of Applied Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of the Republic (Udelar), and Dr. Cecilia Stari, professor of Solid-State Physics at the Faculty of Engineering of Udelar. 10 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Arturo Martí, professor of Applied Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of the Republic (Udelar), and Ludmila Villarreal, research assistant at the Institute of Physics of the Faculty of Sciences at Udelar.
