The Women’s Movement’s Struggle for Legal Abortion in Uruguay.” July. Ismael Almandós, Lucía Bacigalupi, Joanna Peluffo, and Claudia Rodríguez, students in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. They placed among the top 9 in the John Molson MBA International Case Competition. Teams from 20 countries competed. This is the third time ORT MBA students have participated in this event, one of the most prestigious case competitions in the world. January. Juan Manuel Rivero Godoy, professor of Public International Law. He was appointed secretary of the Mercosur Permanent Review Tribunal for the period from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2021. February. Hernán Bonilla, professor of Uruguayan Economy and Society. Appointed to head the Macroeconomic Advisory Office of the Ministry of Economy and Finance in the incoming government. This is the third-highest position in that ministry. February. Norma Pontet, professor of Management Accounting and academic coordinator of Finance Programs. She was appointed chair of the Inter-American Technical Commission on Accounting Research of the Inter-American Accounting Association (AIC) for the 2019–2021 term. March. Bruno Gili, professor of Financial Planning. He is a member of the Committee for the Evaluation and Monitoring of Innovation Projects at the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII). May. Oscar Iroldi, professor in the Department of Tourism. He was appointed technical advisor on tourism to the Undersecretariat of the Ministry of Tourism for the 2020–2025 term. May. Pablo Caputi, professor of Agribusiness. He was appointed to the board of directors of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII). The appointment was made by resolution of the Presidency of the Republic acting through the Council of Ministers. June. Teresa Cometto, Professor of Marketing. Appointed Country Manager of Unilever Uruguay. July. Flavia Roldán, faculty member and researcher in the Department of Economics. Elected Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Society of Economists of Uruguay (SEU). October. Ambassador Agustín Espinosa, Professor of Regional Integration. Appointed by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Luis Almagro, as head of the OAS Electoral Observation Mission to observe the municipal elections in the Federative Republic of Brazil.
