81 ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES ABROAD 2020 Prof. Martín Monteiro (Argentina) Coordinator of the Physics Laboratory. He delivered the virtual talk “A Critical Laboratory for Exploring Planck’s Law with a Smartphone” at the 105th Annual Meeting of the Argentine Physics Association (RAFA 2020) on September 23. He also presented the article “Making science with smartphones” 3 virtually at the conference “Education and Heritage in the Era of Big Data in Astronomy,” IAU Symposium 367, organized by the International Astronomical Union, December 8–12. Eng. Mariel Feder (Argentina) Project Instructor. She gave a virtual presentation on “Agile methodologies, a success story in the aerospace industry” in the Innovation segment of the IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society) Latin American Industrial Forum, October 28. Sebastián Urciuoli, Eng. (Brazil) Research Teaching Assistant. He presented the article “Strong normalization for the simply-typed lambda calculus in constructive type theory using Agda” 4 virtually at the 15th International Workshop on Logical and Semantic Frameworks with Applications, held in Salvador de Bahía from August 26 to 28. 3 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Arturo Martí, professor of Applied Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of the Republic. 4 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Álvaro Tasistro, professor of Computer Science and academic coordinator of the Master’s in Engineering (Research Track) at the Faculty of Engineering of Universidad ORT Uruguay, and Dr. Nora Szasz, academic coordinator of Systems Engineering at the faculty. Dr. Carlos López (Brazil) Adjunct professor in the Geomatics department. He presented virtually the article “The Importance of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs): Is It Possible to Contribute More During This Pandemic?” 5 and the lecture “Are SDIs Really for Everyone?”, and spoke on “The Governance of Ephemeral Information” at the roundtable “Red IDEAIS: New Possibilities and Challenges of SDIs” on the Red IDEAIS project, funded by Spain’s Ibero-American Program for Science and Technology for Development (CYTED), at the II Brazilian Symposium on Spatial Data Infrastructure, hosted by the Geosciences Directorate of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, the Federal University of Paraná, and the University of São Paulo, October 20–23. Dr. Martín Solari (Brazil) Associate Professor of Software Engineering. He presented the article “Technical knowledge and soft skills in the founding teams of software startups” 6 virtually at the 23rd Ibero-American Congress on Software Engineering (CIbSE 2020), Curitiba, November 9–13. 5 Conducted together with Dr. Edilson De Souza Bias, professor at the Institute of Geosciences of the University of Brasília; Dr. Miguel Ángel Bernabé Poveda, president of the LatinGEO Network, Uruguay; Prof. Elieth Alina Hoyos, head of Knowledge Management activities at the Agustín Codazzi National Institute, Colombia; Eng. María Fernanda León Pazmiño, a geographer at the Military Geographic Institute, Ecuador; and Dr. Abimael Cereda Júnior, professor and consultant at Geografia das Coisas, Brazil. 6 Conducted in collaboration with Dr. Gerardo Matturro, associate academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Systems at the Faculty of Engineering of Universidad ORT Uruguay, and Angélica Buffa and Diego Febles, graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Systems program at the faculty.
