51 Universidad ORT Uruguay OUTREACH Universidad ORT Uruguay 2011 "International Animation Festival - FIA'11" On October 17 and 18, the School of Communication and Design organized the 5th edition of the "International Animation Festival - FIA'11," which was declared an Event of Cultural Interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture. This festival showcases animations created by students and graduates of animation schools, independent animators, and production companies. Since its first edition in 2007, works from more than 20 countries across nearly every continent have been featured. This year, 111 short films were submitted, of which the jury selected 51, totaling four hours of animated screenings, plus a special showcase from Chile’s “Chilemonos” festival. Entries came from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Spain, the United States, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Singapore, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The Grand Jury Prize went to “A Common Place” by Brazilian filmmaker Jonas Brandão, and the best Uruguayan animated short was “DHL Possible” by Diego Miranda, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design. “Puesta en escena 8” Fashion Show On December 28, the eighth edition of “Puesta en escena,” the final fashion show for the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design—titled “Perfil Hados” this year—took place at the El Galpón theater. Sixth-semester students in the program participated with their runway collections. The academic fashion show featured individual collections for the 2012 winter season, titled “www.ort.edu.uy/fcd/videopuestaenescena8.”
