First Prize (shared) in the “Guillermo Waksman” Political Journalism Contest, held as part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the weekly newspaper Brecha, for his work “Izquierda (in) segura.” June. Viviana Berrogorry and Mariana Franco Students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication. First Place in the “Pro E-Scientia I” competition organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Uruguay. The team also included Nicolás Berrogorry, a student at Liceo No. 1 in the department of Treinta y Tres, and Ignacio Lanzani, an engineering student at the University of the Republic. Meanwhile, the team composed of María Areán, Stephanie García, and Hansi Ruting, students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Design program, won third place. August. Gerardo Ciancio, Professor of Linguistics. He won the First Prize (shared) in the “First Mario Benedetti International Essay Contest” organized by the Mario Benedetti Foundation, for his work “Soñar la palabra.” August. Timothy Goodman, Student in the Bachelor’s Program in Industrial Design. Maximiliano Izzi, Professor of Industrial Design 3 – Production Feasibility. Goodman won First Prize in the Student Category – Residential Furniture Division at the Salão Design Casa Brasil 2011, the largest product design competition in Latin America. Additionally, Izzi received the Advisor Award from the Salão Design Casa Brasil 2011 competition, presented by the competition’s organizers. August. Federico Russi Graduate of the Advertising Analyst program. Creative Director at Maruri Grey, an Ecuadorian advertising agency that won the “Gran Cóndor de Oro,” the top prize awarded at Ecuador’s “Cóndor 2011” advertising festival. August. Valentín Barla Graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication. Sebastián Bednarik Graduate of the Audiovisual Production Technician program. Carolina Campo Graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication. Gerardo Castelli Graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication and Academic Coordinator of Audiovisual Studies at the faculty. Javier Hayrabedian Graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication. Winners of the Second Annual Call for Submissions 2011 of the Film Promotion Fund of the Uruguayan Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts. Barla received the Award for Development of a Fiction TV Series Project for "Línea de 3." Bednarik received the Award for Development of a Fiction Feature Film Project for the project “Mi mundial.” Campo and Castelli received the Documentary Feature Film Project Development Award for "El hombre congelado." Hayrabedian received the Fiction Feature Film Project Development Award for "Las mariposas." Additionally, Mateo Soler, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication, received a Special Mention for “Cuentos Camperos.” September. AWARDS 2011
