Their final thesis project, “Edu Games,” won first prize in the “Educational Games” category at the “8th National Video Game Competition” organized by Antel, Ingenio, and Universidad ORT Uruguay. The prize consists of a round-trip ticket to San Francisco with accommodation and admission to the “Game Developer Conference Education Summit.” November. Nora Szasz Academic Coordinator of Systems Engineering. The article “Institution-based semantics for MOF and QVT-relations” by Dr. Szasz and Daniel Calegari, Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering at the University of the Republic, won second prize for “best paper presented” at “CBSoft, the Brazilian Conference on Software: Theory and Practice. Brazilian Symposium on Formal Methods (SBMF), organized by the University of Brasília. October. Additionally, Dr. Szasz was promoted to Grade 4 Researcher in the Computer Science area of PEDECIBA (Program for the Development of Basic Sciences). October. Ariel Burschtin, graduate of the Systems Engineering program; Álvaro García, graduate of the Bachelor’s in Systems program; and Ruben Sosenke, graduate of the Information Technology Analyst program. Their startup “Pedidos Ya!”, pre-incubated by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was awarded at the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) “Innovatic Awards” in the category “Most Innovative Use of E-commerce.” April. Gerardo Matturro Research Professor of Software Engineering. He was appointed a member of the Scientific Committee of the journal “Ingeniería Solidaria,” published by the Faculty of Engineering at the Cooperative University of Colombia. June. Martín Solari, Associate Professor of Software Engineering.
