90 Yearbook 2013 Agustín Haller and Dayana Jabif, graduates of the Systems Engineering program. Their app, Truly.am, was recognized as one of the best entries presented at the Disrupt Hackathon, an event organized by the technology website TechCrunch in Berlin. The graduates had 24 hours to design and program their app, after which they presented a one-minute demo to the jury and a large audience. October. Carlos López, Geomatics Instructor. He was appointed Chair of the Cartography Commission of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), a specialized government agency affiliated with the Organization of American States (OAS) and headquartered in Mexico City. November. Ignacio Oliveri, Systems Engineering graduate. He was selected by MIT Technology Review, a publication of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as a Social Innovator of the Río de la Plata region. Mr. Oliveri is the creator of ViperMed, a startup supported by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship that consists of a virtual platform enabling remote medical treatment. November. Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory. He was promoted to the rank of Fellow of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) at the November 2013 meeting of the IEEE Board of Directors. This is the highest level for IEEE members and one of the association’s most prestigious honors. November. Paula Gallotti, Systems Engineering graduate. She was selected by the Women’s Mentoring Partnership to work for one month at Juniper Networks (California), a Silicon Valley company, to develop her leadership skills. The program aims to identify future female leaders worldwide. April. Diego Cáceres and Germán Chiazzo, Systems Engineering students, and Ismael Rodríguez, an Electronics Engineering student. They achieved a score in the top 5% of the “ACM International Programming Contest” (Association for Computing Machinery) held in Buenos Aires. November. AWARDS 2013
