She received a grant from ANII (National Agency for Research and Innovation) to complete her master’s thesis, “In vitro use of immobilized enzymatic systems,” as part of PEDECIBA (Basic Sciences Development Program) – Chemistry, supervised by Dr. Lorena Betancor, a researcher at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the School of Engineering. March. Jorge Pais Graduate of Systems Engineering and student in the Master’s in Engineering (Research Track). He received a scholarship for the Ph.D. in Computer Science at Northeastern University (Boston, United States). May. School of Communication and Design Matilde Pacheco Student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design. She received first prize for her “Lady Olympia” collection in the “Lúmina 7” contest, organized by Punta Carretas Shopping. The prize consisted of a visit to the Polimoda Fashion School, located in Florence, and to the ISIA (Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche) Design Firenze, as well as $1,000 awarded by Banco Itaú. March. María Beatriz Fernández Cordano Graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design. She won first prize in the “Poster Contest for the 2013 National Handicrafts Award” organized by the National Directorate of Handicrafts, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. Second prize went to Juan Pablo Landarín, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising Communication. Additionally, Andrea González Brena, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, received an honorable mention. April. Carol Milkewitz, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication program. Winner of first prize in the Short Story Contest organized by “La tertulia de los viernes” on Radio El Espectador. April.
