Her short film “Rojo” was awarded “Best Uruguayan Short Film” by public vote at the first edition of the “Saltofem” International Women’s Film Festival, held in the city of Salto. September. Oscar Estévez Graduate of the Audiovisual Production Technician program. The program “Héroes de la comunidad,” written, directed, and co-produced by Oscar Estévez, won the “Rocky Mountain Emmy 2013” award for the second consecutive year, this time in the “Best Documentary of Cultural Interest” category. The “Rocky Mountain Emmy” is a regional Emmy Award presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in the United States. October. René Fuentes, instructor of the Oral and Written Expression course in the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. He won first prize in the Poetry category at the “2013 Juan Carlos Onetti Literary Contest” for his book “Caballo que ladra.” October. Additionally, his work “El húmedo suelo del olvido” received an honorable mention at the “Marosa di Giorgio Prize” International Poetry Contest. November. Sebastián Jorcín Graduate in Graphic Design. His project “One” won the First Prize in Chile’s “StartUp Salud 2013” competition, organized by the Incubator of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Universidad del Desarrollo. It was selected from among 101 projects from Latin America. The prize consists of seed capital funding from the Chilean Production Development Corporation. October. Pablo Martínez Pessi, Graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication. The project “Your Parents Will Return,” directed by Martínez Pessi, won the “FONA 2013” award in the “documentary” category. Likewise, the documentary project “Romeos y Julietas” by Guzmán García, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication, received one of the honorable mentions awarded by the jury.
