His research article “Complaints Management in the Banking Industry,” co-authored with Dr. María Antonia García-Benau and Dr. Ana Zorio-Grima of the University of Valencia, won the Best Paper Award at the 3rd Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy (GIKA) Conference, held in Valencia, Spain. July. He also won first prize in the competition for Practical Cases Applicable to Master’s Programs in Accounting and Auditing organized by the Spanish Association of University Professors of Accounting (Asepuc). June. Furthermore, he was appointed a member of the Inter-American Technical Commission on Auditing Standards and Practices of the Inter-American Accounting Association (2013–2015 term). February. Additionally, he was invited to serve as a member of the International Arbitration Committee of the Latin American research journal Teuken Bidikay. June. Ricardo López Göttig, faculty member in the Department of Political and Social Sciences. He won third prize in the 9th Caminos de la Libertad Essay Contest organized by the Azteca Foundation and the Salinas Group of Mexico, for his essay Prometheus Unchained: Private Property as an Incentive for Progress. October. Alan Mai and Sebastián Gabay, students in the Bachelor’s Program in International Studies. They won third place in the Essay Contest of the Latin America–Asia Pacific Observatory of the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) for their essay “Trade Effects of the Chile–China FTA: A Step Toward Trade Liberalization or a Stumbling Block?” October. Norma Pontet, Professor of Management Accounting. She was appointed a member of the Inter-American Technical Commission on Accounting Research of the Inter-American Accounting Association (2013–2015 term). February. She was invited to serve as a member of the Review Committee for the British Journal of Economics, Management, and Trade (United Kingdom). May. In addition, she was invited to serve as a member of the International Arbitration Committee of the Latin American journal of research on organizations, environment, and society, Teuken Bidikay. May.
