They were selected through the competitive examination and merit-based selection process organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to join the Uruguayan Foreign Service. April. Héctor Bajac, Professor of Marketing. He was appointed president of the Uruguayan Chamber of Advertisers for the 2014–2015 term. Meanwhile, Teresa Cometto, professor in the Marketing Department, was appointed secretary. June. Pablo Caputi, professor of Agribusiness. He was appointed vice president of the Economics Committee of the Permanent International Office of Meat (OPIC). June. Ilan Bajarlia, student in the Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies. He was selected by the Marcelino Botín Foundation as Uruguay’s sole representative to participate in the Program for the Strengthening of the Civil Service in Latin America. Those selected participate in an eight-week training program in the United States, Spain, and Brazil. In the 2014 edition, approximately 1,000 candidates from 400 universities applied. July. Nicolás Ameloti, Brahian Delgado, Leonardo Fernández, Agustín Millot, and Ignacio Piloni, students in the Bachelor’s Program in International Studies. They received a scholarship to participate in the Institute for Leadership in the Americas program, with the aim of analyzing aspects related to the international economy, political theory, and the foundations of the rule of law in national governance. The program, organized by The Fund for American Studies, took place at the Universidad de los Andes in Santiago, Chile. January. Braulio Britos, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. He received a Research Initiation Grant from the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) for his project “Productivity, Performance, and Size: Evidence from Horticultural Establishments in Canelones.” June.
