65 School of Engineering 14th ORT Programming Contest As part of the School of Engineering’s “17th Student Conference,” held on September 10, the “14th ORT Programming Contest” took place. The top two teams in the competition represented the university as Uruguay’s sole representatives in the Latin American Finals of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Programming Contest, which took place in Buenos Aires on November 8. The team consisting of Germán Chiazzo and Álvaro Ingold, Systems Engineering students, and Ismael Rodríguez, an Electronics Engineering student, placed 84th (top 5%), and the team composed of Martín Copes, Matías Crizul, and Maximiliano Erlich, Systems Engineering students, placed 180th (top 11%). A total of 1,683 teams from 23 countries participated in the Latin American competition. 9th ICT Job Fair On September 10, the Graduate Affairs Office of the School of Engineering organized the "9th ICT Job Fair," declared of Educational Interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The goal of this event is to connect students and graduates with the job market. A total of 24 companies and organizations participated, including: Adecco, the Uruguayan Association of Engineers, Fabricas Nacionales de Cerveza, Gallito.com, Geocom, Integración Afap, ISBEL, Mercado Libre, Moove-IT, Netsuite, New Age Data, Pronto!, Quanam, República Afap, Tata Consultancy Services, Tenaris, UruIT, and Wallchase, as well as the consulting firms Advice and Manpower.
