119 CONFERENCES AND ACADEMIC VISITS 2015 Dr. Sergio Lifschitz (Brazil) Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. He served as an external grader for the final projects of students in the Systems Engineering and Systems Bachelor’s programs on October 1, 2, 7, and 8. Eng. Daniel Pryjma (Brazil) International Business Development Executive at Wolfram Research. He delivered the lecture “Mathematica, Software for Teaching” on June 15. Dr. María Antonia Malajovich (Brazil) Member of the Scientific Board of the National Association of Biosafety and member of the Technical Commission on Biotechnology of the Federal Council of Biology of Brazil. She delivered the lecture “Biotechnology, Economy, and Society” on October 7. Prof. Steven Low (United States) Professor at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He made an academic visit to the School of Engineering, where he held meetings with members of the Applied Mathematics for Telecommunications (MATE) group to discuss technical aspects of Smart Grids, the group’s area of research, March 13. Prof. Rich Cox (United States) Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Graduate School of Business and the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University. He led the workshops “Everyone is creative” and “Creativity: thriving in ambiguity,” organized by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the School of Engineering in coordination with the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) and programme Stanford Technology Ventures programme STVP), August 18 and 19. Alistair Cockburn (United States) Founder of the Manifesto for Agile Software Development. He delivered the lecture “Answering questions with stories,” organized by the AgileUy Community and the faculty, on December 14. Dr. Ian Mackie (France) Researcher at the Laboratoire d’Informatique de l’École Polytechnique, Paris. He gave a lecture on “Linear numeral systems” at the Seminar of the Chair of Computer Theory, April 8.
