His startup, Inversionate, incubated at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was selected by Red Emprendia (Ibero-American university network for business incubation) to participate in Spin 2016, a program for strengthening business models in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. August. César Varela, a graduate of the Bachelor’s in Systems program, Clara Youdale, a graduate of the Bachelor’s in Systems Engineering program, along with Osvaldo Colina and Pablo Costa. Their project, The Bot Makers, was the winner in the Banking category at the second edition of the Emprendetón competition, organized by CPA Innovation, the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI), the Da Vinci Foundation, and Universidad ORT Uruguay. December. Mauricio Gayol, a graduate of the Programmer Analyst program, alongside Andrés Garderes. Their project, Trip Assistance, was the winner in the Health category. Damián Marcos, a Systems Engineering graduate, alongside Patricia Lockling. Their project, La Máquina de Talento, was the winner in the Creative Industries category. Belén Álamo, Jennifer Baioni, Pía Fernández, Pilar Irigoyen, Valentina Piña, and Doménica Tarallo, Biotechnology Engineering students. The projects “Improvements in the upstream processing of clostridial vaccines” by Álamo and Fernández, conducted for the company Virbac Uy, “Development and validation of a diagnostic kit for Trichomonas foetus and Campylobacter fetus” by Irigoyen and Tarallo, conducted for the Zurgen Laboratory, and “Development of new formulations of agricultural bioinoculants using encapsulation technologies” by Baioni and Piña, carried out for the company Calister, were approved by the Center for Innovation in Engineering for the completion of undergraduate theses in Biotechnology Engineering in collaboration with companies.
